D&AD Talk

pl

Last week I was lucky enough to attend one of the D&AD lectures where guest speaker Yuka Furukawa, from the Denstu agency Japan, spoke. He talked about how they work as an agency and how best to get work that fits both the client needs and the agencies passion to push boundaries. He showed us some of the amazing work they have produced and talked about how they made them. His talk covered 3 of many points he made about being successful in the industry. Overall a very good talk and a great way to spend a Wednesday evening!

One of the main points that stuck in my mind after the talk!

Q&A -proved a lil tricky with a big room full of questions and interpreter. (Slow but informative)

I recommend people try and get tickets to the next President Lectures talks they are a great way to learn about other talent, how other agencies and cultures work. After all we can only learn from the best!

Last week saw the first of many exciting events from the wonderful ladies of ShesSays. Hosted at Wieden + Kennedy (one of the best ad agencies EVER!) we were treated to a evening of talks from W+K ladies from different areas of the agency to discuss failure and how to embrace it. Yup that’s right embracing failure may seem a tad crazy but after listening to the ladies talk about their personal failures and how they used them to develop themselves and advance their careers, I have to say it was pretty inspiriing. Both myself and Natalie came away thinking fuck yeah let’s go rock this industry and create some epic work.

Every time we attend these events we always feel inspired and pumped to go back to work; and with seeing so many familiar faces at the events it’s starting to feel like a good gang of women who all want to go achieve some great work in the industry.

Anyway enough of my ranting, if you haven’t already attended an event keep your eyes and ears peeled for upcoming ones by signing up to their newsletter here .

So this week brought another wonderful SheSays event which was hosted by the lovely Emily Hinks.

THINKTANK brought a compact workshop in which all the ladies who attended were required to mingle, use their brains and get creative. It was all in the name of coming up with new ways in which SheSays can do more to help.

We were able to meet new creatives, use our brains and come up with some really lovely new ideas for SheSays to consider doing in the near future. I felt inspired and also a lot of girl power love once the evening came to an end. From what was an ordinary Thursday evening after work, came an evening which proved that when you put a few minds together great things can happen!

Here are a few photos I grabbed:
